Largest Dinosaurs Ever Found

Several theropods and sauropods grew larger than Tyrannosaurus rex. Spinosaurus, for example, is estimated to have reached lengths of 12 to 15 meters, making it one of the longest known carnivorous dinosaurs. This predator lived in what is now North Africa during the Late Cretaceous period.

How Big Was T-Rex Compared to Other Dinosaurs

Tyrannosaurus rex measured about 12 to 13 meters long and weighed roughly 8 to 14 metric tons. While massive for a predator, it was smaller than some of the largest sauropods, which could exceed 30 meters in length and weigh over 70 metric tons.

Why Some Dinosaurs Grew So Large

Large body size helped some dinosaurs defend against predators, regulate temperature, and access high vegetation. Abundant food sources and specific environmental conditions also supported extreme growth over millions of years.
