Early Career and 1990s Beginnings
Bryan "Birdman" Williams, later known as Birdman, began his music career in the 1990s alongside his brother Ronald "Slim" Williams. The pair started by selling mixtapes and promoting local artists in New Orleans, building a grassroots network that would later become Cash Money Records.
Cash Money Records and Regional Impact
In the mid-1990s, Birdman and Slim co-founded Cash Money Records, which became a major force in Southern hip-hop. The label signed artists such as Juvenile and Lil Wayne, helping to popularize the New Orleans bounce and trap sound beyond the region.
Legacy and Influence
Birdman's 1990s work laid the foundation for Cash Money's later global success. His focus on artist development and regional storytelling influenced a generation of Southern rappers. For more background on the label's early years, see Cash Money Records biography on AllMusic.
