Characters With Black Cats in Fiction
Black cats often appear as companions or symbols in stories and games. They are linked to mystery, luck, and the supernatural. In anime and manga, characters with black cats are common, such as Luna from Sailor Moon, who guides the protagonist with her dark feline form.
In Western folklore, black cats are tied to witches and Halloween imagery. The character Salem from Sabrina the Teenage Witch is a famous example, portrayed as a magical black cat with a sarcastic personality. These depictions reinforce the association between black cats and secretive, magical figures.
Symbolism of Black Cats in Media
Black cats can symbolize both bad luck and good fortune, depending on the culture. In Japanese manga and Western horror, they often signal mystery or a supernatural twist. In some European traditions, a black cat crossing your path is seen as a sign of prosperity.
