2018 First-Class Mail Stamp Price

In 2018, the price of a First-Class Mail stamp rose to 50 cents, up from 50 cents in late 2017 and 49 cents in early 2017. The increase took effect in January 2018, matching the standard rate for a 1-ounce letter. Additional ounces were still charged at a lower per-piece rate, typically 15 cents per extra ounce.

Postcard and Additional Ounce Rates

The cost of a postcard stamp remained at 35 cents in 2018. For heavier letters, the additional ounce rate stayed at 15 cents. Large envelopes and flats were priced separately, with the First-Class Mail letter rate applying to the first ounce and higher fees for larger sizes or heavier weights.

Where to Buy and Current Rates

In 2018, stamps could be purchased at post offices, ATMs, online through the United States Postal Service, and at many retail stores. For the most up-to-date rates and purchasing options, visit the official USPS price page at https://postalpro.usps.com/rates/letter.html.
