Which Department Stores Are Open on Christmas Day
Many large department stores close on Christmas Day, but a few remain open, often with reduced hours. Chains such as Macy's, Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue typically close, while some locations of Target, Walmart, and select specialty retailers may stay open. Hours vary by location, so shoppers should check their local store directly before heading out.
Typical Christmas Day Store Hours and Services
Stores that open on Christmas Day usually operate on shortened hours, often from early afternoon to evening. Most locations limit services, closing cafés, beauty counters, and customer service desks. Online ordering and curbside pickup are frequently available, allowing shoppers to buy gifts without entering the store.
Tips for Shopping on Christmas Day
Before visiting, confirm hours on the retailer's official website or by calling the store. Arrive early, as popular items sell out quickly. Bring identification for in-store returns, and check return policies, since holiday rules may differ.
