What Is the Disney Percy Jackson Series
The Disney Percy Jackson series refers to the adaptations of Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson & the Olympians books. The series follows demigod Percy Jackson as he discovers Greek mythology in the modern world. Disney owns the rights through its acquisition of 20th Century Fox, which produced the first film adaptations.
Books and Main Storyline
The original book series includes five main novels, starting with The Lightning Thief. The stories follow Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, and Grover Underwood on quests across the United States. The books blend Greek mythology with contemporary settings and are published by Disney Hyperion.
Adaptations and Where to Watch
Disney released two theatrical films, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and The Sea of Monsters. A Disney+ streaming series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, premiered in 2023 and adapts the first book. Fans can stream the series on Disney+ or read the books through official retailers and libraries.
