Do Powerball Numbers Have to Be in Order?
No, Powerball numbers do not have to be in the exact order they are drawn. To win the jackpot, you must match all five white balls in any order plus the red Powerball. The game’s rules focus on matching the correct set of numbers, not their sequence.
How Matching Works for Different Prize Levels
You can win prizes by matching fewer numbers, and order still does not matter. Matching just the red Powerball, or combinations of white balls and the red ball, can earn smaller payouts. Each prize tier is based on how many numbers you match, regardless of the order drawn.
