What Is a Fleabag Writer?
A fleabag writer is a colloquial term for a writer who works independently, often taking on small or low-paying jobs to build a portfolio or earn quick income. The label is not an official job title but is used in online discussions to describe freelancers who juggle multiple short assignments.
Common Types of Fleabag Writing Work
Typical tasks include blog posts, product descriptions, social media captions, and short-form content. These jobs are often found on freelance platforms where clients post quick writing requests. The work is usually project-based and paid per piece rather than on a regular salary.
Where to Find Fleabag Writing Opportunities
Writers can search for these opportunities on general freelance marketplaces and content-focused job boards. Many platforms let you set your own rates and choose assignments that match your skills. For an overview of common freelance writing platforms, see Freelancer.com.
