George Walker Bush was born on June 12, 1924, in Milton, Massachusetts. Barbara Pierce was born on June 8, 1925, in New York City. They married in 1945 after meeting as teenagers. The couple had six children, including future President George W. Bush and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush.
Legacy and Public Service
George Bush led the nation during the end of the Cold War and the Gulf War. Barbara Bush championed literacy through the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy. After leaving the White House, the couple remained active in philanthropy. George Bush passed away in 2018, and Barbara Bush passed away in 2018.
