Chris Pratt's Age During Guardians of the Galaxy
Chris Pratt was born on June 21, 1979. When Guardians of the Galaxy premiered in August 2014, he was 35 years old. For the sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, released in May 2017, he was 37. The third film, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, arrived in May 2023, when Pratt was 43.
Pratt's Age Compared to Peter Quill
In the MCU timeline, Peter Quill is born in 1980. This makes the character roughly one year younger than Pratt. The age difference is small enough that Pratt could convincingly portray Quill across multiple decades of the character's life without a noticeable shift in physical plausibility.
Why Pratt's Real Age Fits the Role
Pratt's mid-30s appearance during the first film matched the script's version of Quill, a man in his late twenties or early thirties who was abducted as a child. His real-life maturity also helped ground the character's blend of humor, vulnerability, and leadership. The casting worked because Pratt's age aligned with the cinematic portrayal of a grown man shaped by childhood loss and space adventure.
