Larry Walker Early Life and Career

Larry Walker is a Canadian former professional baseball right fielder and three-time National League MVP runner-up. He was born on December 1, 1966, in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, and attended high school in the Vancouver area before signing with the Montreal Expos as an amateur free agent in 1984.

Major League Career Highlights

Walker played from 1989 to 2005 for the Montreal Expos, Colorado Rockies, and St. Louis Cardinals. He won the NL Most Valuable Player award in 1997, led the league in batting average in 1998, and posted a career .313 batting average with 383 home runs and 1,311 RBIs. He was a seven-time All-Star and five-time Silver Slugger winner.

Hall of Fame and Legacy

Walker was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2020 on his first ballot, earning approximately 76% of the vote. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest Canadian-born players in MLB history and a cornerstone of the Rockies' 1990s teams.
