Longest Burmese Python Ever Recorded
The longest Burmese python verified by authorities measured 5.74 meters (18 feet 10 inches). The specimen was a female kept in captivity in the United States and officially measured by herpetological experts.
Where and When It Was Measured
The record-sized snake was housed at a private collection in the United States. Herpetologists confirmed the length using standard measurement methods for large constrictors. The measurement was later reported to reptile record databases and recognized by python breeding communities.
Why Size Matters in Burmese Pythons
Burmese pythons are one of the largest snake species in the world. Size depends on genetics, diet, and captivity conditions. While wild pythons rarely reach record lengths, well-fed captive individuals can grow substantially over many years.
Comparing Record Pythons to Wild Specimens
Most wild Burmese pythons are smaller than captive record holders. In their native range, adult females average 3 to 4 meters. The record individual shows the upper size limit when the species is kept in controlled environments with consistent food and veterinary care.
