Michael Landon was born Eugene Maurice Orowitz on October 31, 1936, in Queens, New York. His family later moved to California, where he developed an interest in acting and athletics. He began his television career in the late 1950s, appearing in guest roles on series such as IMDb before landing his breakthrough role.

Breakthrough Roles and Television Success

Landon became widely known for his portrayal of Little Joe Cartwright in the Western series Bonanza, which aired from 1959 to 1973. He later created, produced, and starred in the family drama Little House on the Prairie, drawing from Laura Ingalls Wilder's books. His work on these shows made him one of the most recognizable television actors of his era.

Personal Life and Legacy

Off screen, Landon was married multiple times and had several children, including actors Michael Graham Landon and Jennifer Landon. He continued to act and direct into the 1980s, while also advocating for organ donation after his own health struggles. Landon died on July 1, 1991, leaving a lasting legacy in American television.
