Who Voices Nani in Lilo and Stitch
Nani Pelekai is voiced by Tia Caronne in the original 2002 Disney animated film Lilo and Stitch. She provides the speaking voice, while her singing voice is performed by a different vocalist for select musical moments. The casting helped ground the story in a realistic Hawaiian family dynamic.
Role of Nani in the Story
Nani is Lilo’s older sister and legal guardian, working hard to support the family after their parents’ death. Her struggles with responsibility, financial pressure, and protecting Lilo drive much of the film’s emotional stakes. The character shows how caregiving shapes both sacrifice and resilience.
Behind the Performance
Tia Caronne brought a naturalistic tone to Nani, balancing frustration, love, and exhaustion. Directors encouraged subtle, everyday line delivery to make the family feel authentic.
