How the 2025 Oscars Nominations Work
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announces nominations each year following a multi-phase voting process. Members vote in their branches to determine eligible films, and the final nominees are revealed ahead of the ceremony. The process is designed to highlight outstanding work across categories such as Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor.
Key Categories and Eligibility
Major categories include Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Supporting Performances. To qualify, films typically must meet theatrical release requirements and other Academy guidelines. For detailed rules, refer to the official Academy site at https://www.oscars.org/oscars/ceremonies/2025. Eligibility is determined by the Board of Governors each season.
How to Watch the Nominations Announcement
The nominations announcement is broadcast live on the Academy’s official channels and major networks. Viewers can also stream the event through the Academy’s website and partner platforms. The ceremony itself follows weeks later, with coverage available on television and authorized streaming services.
