Who Was Ralph Wilson?

Ralph Wilson was an American businessman and the founding owner of the Buffalo Bills. He was one of the original American Football League owners in 1960 and remained the team's principal owner until his death in 2014.

Ralph Wilson and the Buffalo Bills

Under Wilson, the Bills became a staple of the AFL and later the NFL. The team reached four consecutive Super Bowls from 1990 to 1993 but did not win a championship. Wilson kept the team in Buffalo through decades of ownership and stadium negotiations.

Legacy and Team Ownership

After Wilson's death, the Bills were sold to a group led by Terry and Kim Pegula. The franchise remains in the NFL and continues to operate under new ownership while honoring Wilson's role as its founder. For more team history, see Buffalo Bills team history.
