What Is Scary Movie 5
Scary Movie 5 is a 2013 American spoof comedy that parodies popular horror and thriller films. The movie follows a couple who adopt children after a series of strange events and encounter supernatural situations. It is the fifth installment in the Scary Movie franchise, which is known for mocking mainstream movies with exaggerated humor.
Movies and Scenes Parodied
The film primarily targets horror and pop culture hits such as Paranormal Activity, Black Swan, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and Inception. Scenes recreate iconic moments from these films, including found-footage home videos, intense ballet performances, and surreal dream sequences. The parody style relies on physical comedy and absurd twists on familiar plot points.
Reception and Legacy
Scary Movie 5 received mixed reviews, with critics noting a decline in the franchise's sharp satire. While some viewers appreciated its broad comedic references, others found the humor repetitive. The film remains a notable entry in the series for its wide range of pop culture targets.
