What Is Thanksgiving Travel Day
Thanksgiving travel day refers to the period around the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday when millions of people move across the country. The busiest days are typically the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the Sunday after, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Why Thanksgiving Travel Day Is So Busy
Families travel long distances to gather for meals, making demand for flights, trains, and roads surge. Shorter vacation windows and early holiday breaks increase congestion on major routes and airports during this period.
How to Plan Thanksgiving Travel Day Costs
Airfare and ground transportation prices usually rise as the holiday approaches. Booking early, comparing routes, and checking flexible dates can lower expenses. For current trends and data, travelers can refer to resources like the AAA Travel Forecast at AAA Travel Forecast.
