What Is Trooping the Colour?

Trooping the Colour is an annual British military ceremony that officially celebrates the sovereign's birthday. It features the Household Division marching and changing regimental colours on Horse Guards Parade in London.

The 2015 event took place on 13 June and marked the official birthday of Queen Elizabeth II. The parade included over 1,400 soldiers, 200 horses, and members of the Royal Air Force. The Queen inspected the troops and later attended the balcony appearance at Buckingham Palace.

History and Public Viewing

The ceremony dates back to the 18th century and has been held annually since 1748, with exceptions during wars. In 2015, large crowds gathered along The Mall and at Green Park. For visitor guidance and ticket information, see Household Division Trooping the Colour.
