What Was Universal Epic Stardust Racers
Universal Epic Stardust Racers was a dual-track launch coaster at Universal Studios Japan, themed around high-speed space racing. It opened in 2024 as part of the Universal Cool Japan expansion, featuring synchronized launches and near-vertical drops. The ride was marketed as a premium, immersive coaster experience.
Closure and Ride Death
Universal announced the permanent closure of Epic Stardust Racers in early 2025, citing a combination of low ridership and ongoing operational issues. Park operators stated that the attraction would be removed to make way for a new, unannounced project. The closure was confirmed on the official Universal Studios Japan website.
What Replaces Epic Stardust Racers
Universal has not yet revealed the replacement attraction, but the park has filed permits for major construction near the former ride footprint. Industry analysts expect a new family or thrill coaster aligned with Universal's broader global strategy. Updates are tracked by official park channels and licensed partners.
