Overall Shape and Size

The Titanic was a large British passenger liner with a long, narrow hull, a tall superstructure, and four prominent funnels. It measured about 882 feet long and 92 feet wide, making it one of the largest ships of its era.

Exterior and Deck Features

Above the waterline, the ship had a white painted hull with black hull plating below the waterline. The deck included a boat deck with lifeboats, a bridge with a prominent wheelhouse, and a grand staircase area visible from the exterior. The bow was sharply angled, designed to cut through waves.

Appearance of the Wreck Today

The wreck rests on the North Atlantic seabed at about 12,500 feet. The bow section remains largely recognizable, while the stern is collapsed and fragmented. Rust formations, known as rusticles, cover much of the hull, giving the ship a heavily corroded, orange-brown appearance. The once white hull is now dark and covered in marine growth.
