Prince's Iconic Symbol Guitar
Prince is most associated with a white Hohner Madcat Telecaster-style guitar painted with his love symbol. He used this guitar throughout the 1980s and 1990s on stage and in music videos.
Other Guitars Prince Played
Prince also played Fender Telecasters, Gibson Les Pauls, and custom guitars built by luthiers. He favored clean tones, light strings, and simple setups that matched his funk and pop style.
Where to See Prince's Guitars
Several of Prince's guitars are preserved in museums and private collections. For background on his gear and stage history, see the Prince estate overview at prince.com.
While many artists copied his look, Prince's guitar tone and stage presence remain closely tied to his personal instruments and minimalist rig.
