Who Was the Unabomber

The Unabomber was the nickname of Ted Kaczynski, a former mathematics professor who carried out a series of mail bombings over nearly two decades. His targets included universities and airlines, and his campaign killed three people and injured many others.

Arrest, Trial, and Guilty Plea

Kaczynski was arrested in 1996 after his brother recognized his writing in the manifesto published by major newspapers. He pleaded guilty in 1998 to avoid the death penalty and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Life in Prison and Current Status

Kaczynski is currently held at a federal supermax prison in Colorado, where he remains incarcerated. He has continued to appeal his case and communicate with supporters, but he has not been released or granted parole.
