Clippers Tenure and Transition
Redick spent much of the 2022–23 and 2023–24 seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers before joining the 76ers late in the 2023–24 campaign. His role with the Clippers emphasized veteran leadership, perimeter shooting, and playoff experience.
76ers and Final Games
He finished his playing tenure with the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2023–24 season, appearing in the regular season and postseason before announcing his decision to retire. The combination of reduced minutes and recurring injuries led to his choice to step away from the game.
| Season | Team | Games Played | Minutes Per Game | Points Per Game |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2022–23 | Los Angeles Clippers | 67 | 17.6 | 6.7 |
| 2023–24 | Los Angeles Clippers | 40 | 12.0 | 4.3 |

Reasoning Behind the Retirement Decision
Redick has indicated that the combination of physical recovery, schedule demands, and a desire to pursue new professional and personal interests factored into his retirement. By the close of the 2023–24 season, it became clear that continuing at a reduced capacity was not sustainable.
- Age and accumulated mileage over a long career
- Injury management and recovery timelines
- Interest in media, broadcasting, and business ventures
- Family and lifestyle priorities
Postretirement Plans and Professional Shift
Since retiring, Redick has moved into broadcasting and analyst roles, frequently appearing on prominent sports media outlets. He has also engaged in public speaking, mentoring, and advisory work related to performance and leadership. These activities align with his established communication skills and basketball IQ.
Common Questions and Misconceptions
Because retirement announcements can involve phased decisions, some fans confuse a reduction in playing time with the final decision to retire. For Redick, the 2024 season marked the definitive end to his playing career, following earlier discussions about potentially winding down.
