Early Life and Education

Martin Luther King Jr was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and grew up in the city's Sweet Auburn neighborhood. He attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, later studied at Crozer Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania, and earned a doctorate from Boston University.

Key Places of Ministry and Activism

King became a pastor at Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama, where the Montgomery bus boycott began in 1955. He later helped organize the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and led campaigns in Birmingham, Selma, and other cities across the South.

Final Years and Legacy

In the mid-1960s, King moved his family to Atlanta and continued leading the Southern Christian Leadership Conference while expanding his focus to poverty and international peace.
