Arthur Leigh Allen and the Confession

The only person widely discussed in connection with a confession is Arthur Leigh Allen. In the 1970s and 1980s, he made multiple statements to friends, family, and investigators suggesting he was the Zodiac Killer.

Allen never faced formal charges for the Zodiac murders. Police investigated him for years, but prosecutors decided the evidence was not strong enough to file a case.

What the Evidence Shows

In 2002, forensic DNA testing compared a sample from a Zodiac letter to Allen's DNA. The results did not match, which significantly weakened the case against him.

Despite the confession claims, many investigators and experts remain unconvinced that Allen was the killer. The case remains officially unsolved.

Why the Question Still Matters

The Zodiac Killer taunted police and media with coded letters and threats for years. The unresolved nature of the case continues to attract public attention and new research.
