Who Created Winnie the Pooh

The character Winnie the Pooh was created by English author Alan Alexander Milne, commonly known as A.A. Milne. He first introduced the bear in a poem and later in a series of books about the Hundred Acre Wood.

A.A. Milne and the Pooh Stories

Milne wrote two classic collections: Winnie-the-Pooh (1926) and The House at Pooh Corner (1928). The stories were inspired by his son Christopher Robin Milne and the boy's stuffed animals.

Legacy of the Winnie the Pooh Creator

A.A. Milne died in 1956, but his Pooh books remain widely read and translated. The characters are managed by trusts and licensing organizations, with Disney holding major media rights to the Winnie the Pooh franchise.
