Main Character Deaths
In the Titanic movie, Jack Dawson, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, dies from hypothermia in the freezing North Atlantic after giving his life jacket to Rose. Rose survives and later names her daughter after him, honoring his sacrifice.
Crew and Officer Deaths
Several crew members and officers die during the sinking. Captain Edward Smith remains on the bridge as the ship goes down and is presumed to have perished in the water. First Officer William Murdoch commits suicide after a controversial decision during the evacuation, and Chief Engineer Joseph Bell stays below decks with the engineering crew as the ship sinks.
Passengers and Supporting Deaths
Many passengers and supporting characters die in the disaster. Caledon Hockley, Rose's fiancé, survives but is not among the victims. Third-class passengers, crew, and families are shown struggling in flooded corridors and stairwells. The movie highlights the limited lifeboat capacity and the chaos that led to hundreds of deaths in the icy water.
