Who Invented the Post It

The Post it Note was invented by Spencer Silver and Art Fry at 3M. Silver developed a low-tack adhesive in 1968, and Fry later found a practical use for it in the early 1970s.

How the Post it Was Created

Silver’s reusable adhesive was initially seen as a failure. Fry, a church choir member, used it to anchor bookmarks in his hymnal, creating the first Post it prototype.

Impact of the Post it Note

After a slow start, the product became a global office essential. Today, Post it Notes are sold in over 100 countries and remain a symbol of quick, removable communication.
