Who Is a Woman NFL Kicker
A woman NFL kicker is a female player who handles field goals, extra points, and kickoffs for an NFL team. Most NFL kickers are specialists, and women have historically been rare in this role. A few have reached NFL rosters and training camps, drawing attention to opportunities for female athletes in professional football.
Notable Women NFL Kickers and Tryouts
Several women have publicly tried out or signed with NFL teams as kickers. Some gained attention after working out at NFL facilities or joining practice squads. In recent years, more women have entered kicking combines and developmental leagues, aiming to earn roster spots. Their progress highlights ongoing efforts to expand diversity among NFL specialists.
Path to the NFL as a Female Kicker
Most women NFL kickers come from college or semi-pro football, often with backgrounds in soccer. They train in kicking mechanics, strength, and game preparation to compete with male specialists. Coaches evaluate accuracy, leg strength, consistency, and performance under pressure. Aspiring kickers typically attend NFL tryouts, regional combines, and developmental showcases to gain visibility.
Challenges and Opportunities for Women Kickers
Female kickers face limited roster spots, competition, and bias in a male-dominated position. However, growing interest in women's football and inclusive scouting has created more chances to be noticed. Organizations and media coverage help highlight female kickers, encouraging young athletes to pursue specialist roles at the highest level of the sport.
